¡Hola, gente maravillosa de Nadine West! Es hora de la actualización mensual para Agosto de 2021.

1. MUYY AGRADECIDO

Aunque todavía faltan meses para el Día de Acción de Gracias, siempre es un buen momento para expresar gratitud. Sidney, Meredith y yo somos increíblemente afortunados de tenerlos a todos en el equipo.

El equipo de hoy es el más fuerte que hemos tenido en toda la historia de Nadine West. El nivel de talento y liderazgo nunca ha sido tan alto como en la actualidad. Estamos muy orgullosos del equipo que tenemos.

Pero, permítanme ser más específico, sobre POR QUÉ este es el equipo más fuerte que hemos tenido.

Estamos muy agradecidos de que todos tengan una mentalidad de crecimiento y se esfuercen por ser un 1% mejores cada día. Siempre estás buscando oportunidades para mejorarte, mejorar el equipo y mejorar nuestros sistemas, poco a poco, todos los días.

Estamos muy agradecidos de que se concentre en crear buenos sistemas y procesos. Se necesita mucha más energía mental para idear procesos mejorados para hacer las cosas y para soluciones permanentes a los problemas. Sin embargo, a largo plazo, tener buenos sistemas significa que alcanzaremos constantemente nuestros objetivos, sin que las cosas tengan que ser una locura en el trabajo.

Estamos muy agradecidos de que se cuiden el uno al otro y a Nadine West. Todos los días, a través de la comunicación y el coaching, se ayudan mutuamente a crecer y ayudan a todo el equipo a mejorar. Todos los días, prestas atención a esos pequeños detalles que hacen sonreír a nuestros clientes.

5. EL EQUIPO DE COMPRA DE NADINE WEST AYUDA A LAS FAMILIAS NECESITADAS

El año pasado, nuestros equipos de servicio al cliente y estilismo ayudó a muchas familias que se vieron afectadas por un tifón y una erupción volcánica en Filipinas.

Y el mes pasado, parte del equipo de compras de Nadine West se coordinó con un templo en Vietnam para ayudar a alimentar a algunas familias que, debido a COVID, perdieron sus ingresos y no tenían redes de seguridad gubernamentales a las que recurrir. Aquí hay un video corto que armaron para agradecer a Nadine West por la generosidad. Tan orgulloso.

1. NADINE WEST: PAST

In our most recent quarterly team survey, a few of you mentioned wanting to learn more about how we got started and where we’re going. Absolutely! We love sharing the story of how and why we started Nadine West.

Why did we start Nadine West?

From the very beginning (2014), we were most excited by the opportunity to create something special. Sidney and I wanted to create a special company that was built-to-last and that would make us all proud.

Early on, we ignored the conventional advice for a promising, young startup — raise lots of money from investors, hire as many people as you can, and grow as fast as humanly possible. No thank you! That sounded like a recipe for burnout and unhappiness, not for a profitable, sustainable, healthy company.

So, instead, we started small and grew slowly, in the beginning. We kept our costs low and our prices affordable. We focused on customer and employee happiness. We got to break-even quickly so that we could stay true to who we are. And most importantly, we found talented and friendly people like you to join the team.

2. NADINE WEST: PRESENT

Today, Nadine West is the strongest we’ve ever been. The level of talent and leadership has never been as high as it is today. Every day, I am very grateful to work alongside such wonderful, talented people!

3. NADINE WEST: FUTURE

So, where are we going next? The plan is to continue doing what has already made us such a special company.

The blueprint for who we want to be one day, is, probably, Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines is a beloved Texas-based airline known for low prices, great customer service, long-term success, and the courage to be different.

The future is more of the blueprint that we have borrowed from Southwest Airlines to build Nadine West.

a. Invest for the long-run.
b. Focus on building good systems and processes.
c. Operate efficiently to keep prices low.
d. Make all of our customers feel like VIP’s through outstanding customer service.
e. Build proprietary technology to run all of the above.

What are some of your tasks?

I lead the warehouse fulfillment center so a large portion of my role revolves around people leadership, development and accountability. 

As I re-evaluate goals and efficiencies, I am just beginning to draft updated SOP’s and test new processes. 

Of course, I jump in any position as needed to help or learn so.. pretty much anything and everything to keep the warehouse train on the track.

Favorite song/band and why?

Oh there are so many – I’ll add a fav in each genre! I always loved Alicia Keys, Chris Stapleton is a recent addition (since moving to Texas), Bob Marley, Smokey Robinson and well Queen!

Favorite cuisine/restaurant
British Roast dinner (I’m from England) quickly followed Indian Chicken Curry.

Hobbies

I enjoy hiking, travelling and cooking. However, do not let than fool you my social life pretty much revolves around my fiancé and my two bratty cats (Athena and Zeus)!

What do you love about your job?

People and Processes! I love taking a thought or idea, developing that into a project and then getting to execute and measure improved results. That is what we do everyday in the warehouse. Although, for me this concept extends to people. Growing does not always feel good but it is in that place of discomfort that the most development occurs. For that reason I find people are always the most fulfilling part of my role.

Anything else you’d like to share with the team?

I have immediately fallen in love with the humility and drive shown by the entire team at NW. I feel very fortunate to have found a place here, thank you!

What are some of your tasks?

In the Buying Team, as a QA Lead, I make sure that the data entered in OMS purchasing orders and the discrepancy reports created by our buyers are complete and accurate. 

As a technical writer, I write documents for Standard Operating Procedures for the Buying Team. 

As a content manager, I also help in maintaining and updating content on some of our WordPress sites. 

On some occasions, I am also assigned to execute test plans to make sure specifications for our websites are being met.

Favorite song/band and why?

Nothing in particular but I still love the classic ABBA songs because of their upbeat and infectious melodies and lyrics.

What do you love about your job?

Nadine West gave me opportunities to learn new things and develop new skills as I perform my various work assignments. I also love the flexibility of my work schedules which allows me to manage my own time effectively and efficiently.

Anything else you’d like to share with the team?

Working remotely and being part of a virtual team is a great experience and privilege, not everyone is given this great opportunity. I am glad to see the amazing growth of Nadine West and I am very happy to be a part of this wonderful team!

Favorite song/band and why?

Because I have a diverse (and sometimes weird) music taste, I go from alternative rock to indie folk to Broadway musicals on the daily. 

My current favorites are Twenty One Pilots, Billie Eilish, Of Monsters and Men, Judah & the Lion, and the Dear Evan Hansen & Hamilton Musical Soundtrack. 

I love these current picks because they keep me in an ‘be okay’ mood since the pandemic started. 

These times are really stressful and these artists offer a sense of comfort to their listeners. Something that we all definitely need right now.

Favorite cuisine

Any classic Filipino dishes are my favorite. But my ultimate comfort foods are adobo, fries, cream-based pasta, and (won’t live without) coffee.

Hobbies

I dabble on photography, hand lettering, journaling, collage making, and digital art. I really do enjoy sleeping, too. 😀

What are some of your tasks?

My tasks are checking the data entries on our order management system and comparing them to vendors’ issued invoices. To help maintain correct information on Nadine West’s products and assist our stylists in choosing the right items for our customers, I also check the style attributes of each product ordered.

What do you love about your job?

What I love about my job is how straightforward the tasks are. The team that I belong to is also really helpful in making my job enjoyable. They are easy to approach and problems are easily solved because of great coordination and teamwork.

Anything else you’d like to share with the team?

Thank you so much for being a great team and for letting us feel included, even though we are all miles and miles apart. 🙂
