3. THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO CHANGE PATIENTS’ LIVES

Did you know that there are about 300 million people around the world living with a rare disease? Ben’s Friends Patient Communities is a non-profit that runs online support communities for people living with a rare disease. Ben’s Friends helps about 100,000 people every month connect with others like them.

Nadine West helps out Ben’s Friends Patient Communities with donations of time and money. Executive Director Clasina Field recorded this beautiful video thanking all of us – including Sascha, Sidney, Joe, and Rosemarie by name.

Earlier this month, Shy and Nadine West combined forces to help families affected by massive flooding and heavy winds from a powerful typhoon that hit her local province in the Philippines. Below are pictures with Shy helping to distribute food and supplies directly to families affected.

Nadine West team members are scattered all over the planet. Would be great if we could get a chance to visit everyone. Below are some pictures from our team members. Which place do you want to visit first?

Vista Tala in Bataan is a great location overall for sightseeing, recreation, and dining. It has a very calming scenic view. What a breathtaking place to visit!

Monique Navoa

This photo was taken at Camarines Sur Water Sports Complex (CSWC). While my sister was watching the wakeboarders do their stunts, I took advantage of the moment to capture the beautiful sunset.

This place attracts water sports enthusiasts from all over the world. They offer cable skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, water skating, etc. They also have cute, native huts for their guests to relax in. And every weekend before the CoVID happened, they hosted marketing events and mini concerts for everyone to enjoy.

I’m from Iligan City, known as the City of Majestic Waterfalls. I love it here because there’s no heavy traffic, less pollution, and everything is less than 30 minutes away.

On the left is the Tinago Falls, where I usually bring my family and friends who visit me during summer vacation. The approximately 400 steps to get to the falls is always worth it.

On the right is the beach that my husband and I go to everytime we need a quick break from work. It is five minutes away from our home. His Grandma’s house is at the beachfront where we get to watch beautiful sunsets.

Taken last December, this photo shows the lower part of BenCab Museum in Tuba, Benguet which features a farm and a garden, as viewed from its balcony. It showcases organic produce and architecture of the Ifugao, Kalinga, and Bontoc.

The museum itself features artworks by Benedicto Reyes Cabrera, a Filipino painter, and other

noted Filipino artists, plus indigenous northern highlands exhibits.

Lanny Abrero

Santa Rosa is not too far from Manila and has been a city for years now. I guess I can recommend visiting Solenad, Nuvali. A place where you can relax, enjoy the view and go shopping too.

There is an area where you can rent bikes and feed the coys/fish, which is really satisfying to do. There’s a big area where you can just sit down, run or play around. You can also ride on a boat for a fee. You may bring picnic mats, sit on the grass and eat your food! A really great place to chill and do some soul searching (lol). You can do it alone or with family and friends!

I also recommend Camp N if you’re looking for adventure. You can try the zipline, wall climbing and rappelling, obstacle course, aerial rope, archery and a lot more.

Eden Nature Park and Resort Davao is my favorite go-to place whenever I feel the need to take a break. It is one of the most popular and most visited mountain resorts in Davao City. One of my favorites is enjoying the spectacular view of pine trees which blends beautifully with its background.

This is definitely a good place to unwind, relax, enjoy good food, and feel the beauty of nature!

This photo was taken last July 2018 at Dingalan Aurora, Quezon Province. This is the “Batanes of the East” here in the Philippines. It is jaw droppingly beautiful. A must visit place if you decide to travel to the Philippines.

Christine Flores

This is the Abbey of the Transfiguration or also known as the Monastery of the Transfiguration. This is located in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon. This is a Catholic church but a lot of people consider this as a tourist spot.

The church is located on top of a hill surrounded by lush green environment. The church itself is a pyramid in shape and when you visit the place it offers a zen and peaceful ambiance. You will feel the cool breeze of the mountain and enjoy the fresh air.

They also have a souvenir shop and a cafe. They sell different religious items and other products that they have grown and produced such as cocoa, coffee, brown rice, turmeric and other delicacies and pastries.

Jennifer Batu

I’m from Ho Chi Minh, the largest and busiest city in Vietnam. I always travel to the countryside and stay close to nature.

Nadine West gives me a great chance to work everywhere I like. I’m glad to invite you to work remotely with me on top of the mountain. We can listen to the birds singing and enjoy the fresh air and cool wind. Sometimes, we will be distracted by adorable squirrels looking for food on the trees around. The picture above is the view from my dad’s house at Cam Mountain, Vietnam.

Haley Vo

I’ve lived in Miami, Florida for 2 years. The Florida sunshine has been a welcome escape from the extreme climates I experienced when growing up in the UK, and then later when living in New York City after a move stateside.

Being in Miami is all about having access to the many beautiful beaches – where the warm seawater is like jumping into a giant soothing bath! Hop on a boat and you’ll often see sting/manta rays, dolphins and the odd shark! On land, the large latin community here is full of energy – they really know how to have fun and party. If any of the team ever make it here – I would love to meet up.

Adrian Tilley

I’m currently living in Ketchikan, Alaska, which is about as far south in Alaska as you can get. We are roughly halfway from “mainland” Alaska to Seattle, in a unique geographical area of temperate rainforest.

Being that we are not originally from here, we try to maximize our family’s time outdoors exploring the mountains, rivers, and coastlines. Whether on boating or backpacking trips, we regularly get to see nature in it’s most raw form. Untouched land where you can see more whales, bears, and bald eagles than people on any given weekend out of town.

The first picture is from the top of “Dude Mountain” looking towards some of our other near town mountain ridges and the ocean in the distance. The second photo is of a mountain stream flanked with the dense rainforest growth.

Grant Alkire

I live in Moscow, the capital of Russia. It’s one of the largest cities in the world with 12 million people living here.

And like any megapolis, it’s hard to choose one place to recommend. So here’s just two pictures to show the opposite sides of the city.

The first one is the Triumfalnaya Square on winter night. Yeah crazy Russians like swinging even during winter. And the next one is taken from Luzhniki metro bridge over Moscow river. It’s a summer view on Sparrow Hills and the Russian Science Academy.

Marat Nuriev

I am a software consultant, working from Barcelona for clients all over the world. Barcelona is an incredible city, modern, open, cosmopolitan, by the sea. The climate here is really good, perfect for riding your bike all year.

Working remotely gives you freedom. When my daughter finishes school in June, we’ll move to the seaside and spend the whole summer there. The picture on the right shows one of our favorite spots in our beach town.

3. GRACIAS POR AYUDAR A CAMBIAR LA VIDA DE LOS PACIENTES

¿Sabías que hay alrededor de 300 millones de personas en todo el mundo que viven con una enfermedad rara? Ben’s Friends Patient Communities es una organización sin fines de lucro que administra comunidades de apoyo en línea para personas que viven con una enfermedad rara. Ben’s Friends ayuda a unas 100.000 personas cada mes a conectarse con otros como ellos.

Nadine West ayuda a las comunidades de pacientes de Ben’s Friends con donaciones de tiempo y dinero. La directora ejecutiva Clasina Field grabó este hermoso video dándonos las gracias a todos, incluidos Sascha, Sidney, Joe y Rosemarie por su nombre.

Sidney y yo (y todos los líderes de su equipo) todavía estamos aprendiendo en el trabajo, todos los días. Sidney y yo hemos cometido tantos errores tontos en los últimos 6 años que un día los recopilaremos en un libro llamado “¡Lo mejor de Nadine West falla!”

Todos cometemos errores, pero lo que importa es que permanecemos abiertos a la superación personal y buscamos comentarios de los demás sobre cómo podemos hacerlo mejor.

Los miembros del equipo de Nadine West están dispersos por todo el planeta. Sería genial si pudiéramos tener la oportunidad de visitar a todos. A continuación se muestran algunas fotos de los miembros de nuestro equipo. ¿Qué lugar quieres visitar primero?

Vista Tala en Bataan es una excelente ubicación en general para hacer turismo, recreación y cenas. Tiene una vista panorámica muy relajante. ¡Qué lugar tan impresionante para visitar!

Esta foto fue tomada en Camarines Sur Water Sports Complex (CSWC). Mientras mi hermana observaba a los practicantes de wakeboard hacer sus acrobacias, aproveché el momento para capturar la hermosa puesta de sol.

Este lugar atrae a entusiastas de los deportes acuáticos de todo el mundo. Ofrecen cable ski, wakeboard, kneeboard, patinaje acuático, etc. También tienen lindas cabañas nativas para que sus invitados se relajen. Y cada fin de semana antes de que ocurriera el COVID, organizaban eventos de marketing y mini conciertos para que todos disfrutaran.

Dimaiwat Cherrylyn

Soy de la ciudad de Iligan, conocida como la ciudad de las majestuosas cascadas. Me encanta estar aquí porque no hay mucho tráfico, menos contaminación y todo está a menos de 30 minutos.

A la izquierda está el Tinago Falls, donde suelo llevar a mi familia y amigos que me visitan durante las vacaciones de verano. Los aproximadamente 400 escalones para llegar a las cataratas siempre valen la pena.

A la derecha está la playa a la que mi esposo y yo vamos cada vez que necesitamos un breve descanso del trabajo. Está a cinco minutos de nuestra casa. La casa de su abuela está en primera línea de playa, donde podemos ver hermosos atardeceres.

Tomada el pasado mes de diciembre, esta foto muestra la parte inferior del Museo BenCab en Tuba, Benguet, que cuenta con una granja y un jardín, visto desde su balcón. Presenta productos orgánicos y la arquitectura de Ifugao, Kalinga y Bontoc.

El museo en sí presenta obras de arte de Benedicto Reyes Cabrera, un pintor filipino, y otros
destacados artistas filipinos, además de exhibiciones indígenas de las tierras altas del norte.

Lanny Abrero

Santa Rosa no está muy lejos de Manila y ha sido una ciudad durante años. Supongo que puedo recomendar visitar Solenad, Nuvali. Un lugar donde relajarse, disfrutar de la vista e ir de compras también.

Hay un área donde se pueden alquilar bicicletas y alimentar a los coys / peces, lo cual es realmente satisfactorio. Hay un área grande donde puedes sentarte, correr o jugar. También puede viajar en bote por una tarifa. ¡Puede traer colchonetas de picnic, sentarse en el césped y comer su comida! Un gran lugar para relajarse y hacer un examen de conciencia (risas). ¡Puedes hacerlo solo o con familiares y amigos!

También recomiendo Camp N si buscas aventuras. Puede probar la tirolesa, la escalada de paredes y el rappel, la carrera de obstáculos, la cuerda aérea, el tiro con arco y mucho más.

Eden Nature Park and Resort Davao es mi lugar favorito cuando siento la necesidad de tomarme un descanso. Es uno de los centros turísticos de montaña más populares y visitados de la ciudad de Davao. Uno de mis favoritos es disfrutar de la espectacular vista de los pinos que se mezcla maravillosamente con su fondo.

Este es definitivamente un buen lugar para descansar, relajarse, disfrutar de una buena comida y sentir la belleza de la naturaleza.

Esta es la Abadía de la Transfiguración o también conocida como el Monasterio de la Transfiguración. Este se encuentra en la ciudad de Malaybalay, Bukidnon. Esta es una iglesia católica, pero mucha gente la considera un lugar turístico.

La iglesia está ubicada en la cima de una colina rodeada de un exuberante entorno verde. La iglesia en sí tiene forma de pirámide y cuando visitas el lugar ofrece un ambiente zen y tranquilo. Sentirás la brisa fresca de la montaña y disfrutarás del aire puro.

También tienen una tienda de souvenirs y una cafetería. Venden diferentes artículos religiosos y otros productos que han cultivado y producido como cacao, café, arroz integral, cúrcuma y otras delicias y repostería.

Jennifer Batu

Soy de Ho Chi Minh, la ciudad más grande y concurrida de Vietnam. Siempre espero viajes al campo y estar cerca de la naturaleza.

Aquí, mi sueño se hace realidad. Nadine West me brinda una gran oportunidad de trabajar donde quiera. Me alegra invitarte a trabajar conmigo de forma remota en la cima de la montaña. Podemos escuchar el canto de los pájaros, disfrutar del aire fresco y del viento fresco. A veces, nos distraen las adorables ardillas que buscan comida en los árboles de alrededor. Las imágenes de arriba son la vista desde la casa de mi papá en Cam Mountain, Vietnam.

Haley Vo

He vivido en Miami, Florida durante 2 años. El sol de Florida ha sido un escape bienvenido de los climas extremos que experimenté cuando crecía en el Reino Unido, y luego cuando vivía en la ciudad de Nueva York después de mudarme a Estados Unidos. Estar en Miami se trata de tener acceso a las muchas playas hermosas, ¡donde el agua de mar tibia es como saltar a un baño relajante gigante! ¡Súbete a un bote y verás a menudo mantarrayas, delfines y algún que otro tiburón! En tierra, la gran comunidad latina aquí está llena de energía: realmente saben cómo divertirse y divertirse. Si algún miembro del equipo llega alguna vez aquí, me encantaría reunirme.

Adrian Tilley

Actualmente vivo en Ketchikan, Alaska, que está lo más al sur de Alaska que se puede llegar. Ya sea en viajes en bote o en mochilero, regularmente podemos ver la naturaleza en su forma más cruda. Tierra virgen donde puedes ver más ballenas, osos y águilas calvas que personas en cualquier fin de semana fuera de la ciudad. La primera imagen es de la cima de “Dude Mountain” mirando hacia algunas de nuestras otras cordilleras cercanas a la ciudad y el océano en la distancia. La segunda foto es de un arroyo de montaña flanqueado por la densa selva tropical.

Vivo en Moscú, la capital de Rusia. Es una de las ciudades más grandes del mundo con 12 millones de personas viviendo aquí.

Y como cualquier megapolis, es difícil elegir un lugar para recomendar. Así que aquí hay solo dos imágenes para mostrar los lados opuestos de la ciudad.

La primera es la Plaza Triumfalnaya en la noche de invierno. Sí, a los rusos locos les gusta balancearse incluso durante el invierno. Y el siguiente se toma desde el puente del metro Luzhniki sobre el Rio Moscú. Es una vista de verano de Sparrow Hills y la Academia de Ciencias de Rusia.
